Carl Jeff Adams September 13, 1947- November 22, 2005 PHENIX CITY, AL

Jeff Adams, 58, of Phenix City, AL died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, Georgia. Graveside services were held on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Lakeview Memory Gardens at 11:00 AM EST with Rev. John Paul Thomas officiating.

Jeff was born, September 13, 1947 in Dothan, AL, son of Margaret Curry Adams and the late Carl Adams. He was a 1965 graduate of Central High School and a member of the Auburn University Class of 1969. Upon graduation, he immediately was employed by the Phenix City School System where he taught, served as Director of the Phenix City Alternative School, Principal of Ridgecrest Elementary School and Principal of South Girard Jr. High School. Following these positions, he moved to the Central Office and eventually became an Assistant Superintendent. Jeff was active at Summerville United Methodist Church were he taught the Henry Fleming Sunday School Class.

Survivors are his wife, Jeanne Lonyay Adams, his mother, Margaret Adams, of Phenix City, AL; two sons, Jay Adams and wife, Katina of Phenix City, AL, Jon Adams and wife, Shelli of Birmingham, MI; one brother, Steve Adams of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Sam, Maggie, Jack, Allie, and Jon Adams.

 

The Lights of Mr. Adams' Life

 

Our school family has suffered a great loss. Each of us has many lasting memories of Mr. Adams as our teacher, mentor, colleague and friend. He devoted his life to Phenix City Public Schools and would be the first to say "the show must go on!" Please keep his family in your prayers.

Mr. Adams was a past board member and strong supporter of the Phenix City Education Foundation. His family encourages anyone wishing to remember Jeff to make a donation in his memory to the Phenix City Education Foundation.
