Central scored the first 16 points in the second quarter of Friday night’s game to pull away from Auburn in a dominating 49-25 victory.

“I’m really proud of my reserve team,” Central head coach Carolyn Wright said of a unit that scored 19 of the Red Devils’ 49 points. “That’s going to make us even stronger. We’re just trying to play strong a full four quarters.”

The Red Devils (26-1, 6-0) held Auburn scoreless in the second quarter until the Tigers made a free throw with 17 seconds until halftime.

After the first period, Auburn (8-12) didn’t make another field goal until 18 seconds remained in the third quarter.

Ju’el Beasley led the Red Devils with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, and Jakeithia Carr led Auburn with 6 points.

The Auburn B-team defeated Central on Friday night, 53-48.

Mason Daniels scored 19 points to lead the Tigers and Mi-Mi Ikejiani added 11.
