Cadet promotions and position assignments are based on individual performance, demonstrated potential and overall performance at Central High School. Many factors are evaluated by the Naval Science Instructors before awarding ranks, promotions and position assignments. Promotions will be considered at the end of each semester. Below are the minimum standards for promotions and staff positions:

Minimum Standards

1	GPA of at least 2.0 in ALL classes.
2	At least a "C" grade in NJROTC.
3	No missed uniform days.
4	No suspensions, detentions, or other unfavorable disciplinary actions.
5	Proper military appearance, including haircut, shave and female regulation hair styles.
6	Acceptable level of participation in NJROTC activities and events.

Meritorious Promotions

Cadets performing above and beyond the call of duty may be considered for meritorious promotion.

Staff Appointments

Once minimum standards are met and minimum requirements in rank are met, a cadet may apply for a position by completing a job request form via the Chain of Command, be recommended by cadet staff, submit two character letters of recommendation from faculty or administrators, initiate a unit project and complete it from start to finish. (i.e. fundraisers, community service, NJROTC event)

Cadet Petty Officer 2nd Class

Cadet Petty Officer 1st Class

Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade

Cadet Lieutenant Commander

THREE semesters as LT "A" average in NJROTC 2.80 cumulative GPA Pass Physical Fitness Test Must hold a XO or CO command position

Cadet Commander

MUST have met all previous Officer rank requirements Selected by SNSI as Company/Battallion Commander

Selection as Cadet Executive Officer (XO) and Cadet Commanding Officer (CO)

Must have met all previous officer rank requirements Must have attended one of the summer camps (Leadership, Mini-Boot Camp) Must have three letters of reference from teachers or administrators
