The Central High School Navy Junior ROTC won 1st place overall at Baldwin High School Drill Invitational in Miledgeville, Ga, January 19. The cadets competed in 10 events against 12 other high schools in Georgia. CHS came away with seven 1st place trophies, two 2nd place trophies and one 3rd place trophy!

Special recognition goes out to Cadet Commanding Officer Jessica Jennings, who won the Marksmanship Shooting competition. She was the top scorer in the standing position. Cadet Ryan Heath was the top shooter in the kneeling position. Both cadets contributed to Central's 1st place in the overall Marksmanship rifle competition. Cadet Executive Officer Shauvez Bennett won 1st place in the curl up and push up competition. Cadet Brianne Brooks won 1st place in the curl up competition for females, followed by Cadet Jessica Jennings 2nd place finish. The Color Guard Team led by Cadet Adavious Morgan won 1st place overall in its category. The Armed Drill Team led by Cadet Cameron Cantrell won 1st place overall in its category also. The UnArmed Exhibition Drill Team led by Cadet Jessica Jennings won 2nd place overall in its category.

The cadets endured the cold weather to perform at their best in front of judges who were selected from all branches of the military.
