Drop
Out Recovery Program
DOR
is an alternative education program offered through the Phenix City
Public Schools and Central High School.
This program is designed for students who are not successful
in the regular high school program and are in jeopardy of dripping
out and not earning a high school diploma.
Graduation through the Drop Out Recovery Program is based on the
graduation requirements as established by the Phenix City Board
of Education for Central High School. As such, all potential
graduates must complete the following:
A) 28
total credits/carnegie units:
- 4 units in each core area (English, mathematics, science, social
studies)
- 1 unit in LIFE
- 1/2 unit in health
- 1/2 unit in Business Tech Essentials
- 1/2 unit in fine arts
- 9 1/2 units in electives
B) Successful completion of required portions of the Alabama
High School Graduation Exam.
Criteria for Eligibility:
1) One or more grades behing during high school years in their class
standing as defined by the Phenix City Schools credit guidelines.
2) have earned a minimum of 7 high school credits prior to admission
to the program.
3)Once enrolled, students may not return to Central High School's
main campus.
4) Students may not graduate prior to their age-appropriate graduation
