DIBELS are Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills. Lakewood Elementary School administers the DIBELS benchmark assessments to all students, kindergarten through fourth grade, three times a year. These assessments are administered at the beginning of the school year, mid-year, and at the end of the school year by the DIBELS Testing Team. The team members include the principal, media specialist, guidance counselor, resource teacher, speech teacher, and reading coach. Classroom teachers frequently assess students' progress between these benchmark test dates. This is referred to as "progress monitoring." The results of these assessments help our teachers to make informed decisions about each child's instructional needs. |
