Virtual Library
The Alabama Virtual Library provides access to a variety of
databases helpful to students. The AVL can be accessed at any
Alabama public or school library. An AVL card is required for home
access Lakewood students are assigned Alabama Virtual Library cards in
the third grade. Parents may request cards for younger students as
well.
Infoplease
Infoplease contains information on most subject areas including
biography, sports, arts and entertainment, and business. It is
searchable and can be accessed at no charge via the
Internet.
Merriam-Webster
Online
This electronic resource contains a searchable dictionary and
thesaurus. It can be accessed at no charge via the Internet.
Computers with the necessary software and hardware can play audio files
of words (pronunciations, etc.). Another valuable feature is the
cross reference to other sources of information. |
