The Phenix City Education Foundation was established in 1993 as a non profit (501)(C3) Corporation. It is an entity separate from the Phenix City Public School System and is managed by a 15 member Board of Directors.

PCEF's mission is to raise donations for a perpetual foundation with the purpose of providing educational project grants to school system employees. Funds are awarded each year for programs that broaden educational opportunities, enrichment experiences and recognition for the students in the Phenix City Public School System. Over the past 16 years, PCEF has provided more than $147,000.00 in grant funding.

Schools today are faced with the demands of society to provide more than ever before for our students. Teachers are faced with large classes and students with many needs and many different backgrounds. School board budgets provide for necessities, but teachers often have to supplement classroom teaching supplies from personal resources. Often, extras which make classroom instruction more exciting and dynamic, are not available through instructional funds. In this climate of scarcity, teachers are called upon to be more creative and to provide a higher quality of education with less resources. The Foundation attempts to help teachers by providing funds to make that exciting difference in their classrooms for their students.

PCEF was able to fund 30 grants in the total amount of $12,475
for the 2008-2009 school year.

Congratulations to the our grant recipients:
