Grammar
|
| We will work on two chapters
simultaneously. One will be a skills chapter, and the other
one will be a writing chapter. I will usually give the
students a quiz on Wednesdays, and the chapter test will be given at
the end of the chapters. |
| The grammar grade will come
from various sources, such as cooperation and participation,
classwork and homework, weekly quizzes, chapter tests, activities, and writing
assignments. |
| Students will write every
day in a spiral notebook about an event that occurred on that
particular date. They will listen to the event while it is
being read, brainstorm a
list of possible topics, choose a topic, create a web or an outline,
and then write about the topic. Then, students will proofread
and edit their work and write a better, revised copy into their
black composition book. |
| Students will also be given
writing prompts to write two page essays, which simulate the Alabama's Fifth Grade
Writing Assessment. Writing essays for various contests will be highly encouraged and
sometimes required, such as the symphony essay and the DARE essay. |
