-Write the ideas in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Write a rough draft for the Word of the Week in the Changing Lives activity book.

-Write down all assignments in planner, even if they are completed.

-Get your planner signed by your parent/guardian every night.

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book:  Found:  Unusual Plant

The snowdrop is a flower that blooms in January.  Pretend you are a famous botanist who has just discovered a very unusual plant that only blooms in January.  Write about your discovery.

-Write rough drafts of an expository essay, a narrative essay, and a descriptive essay for the topic of A Different Kind of Hero.

-Practice manuscript and cursive handwriting.

-Participate in the Book It Program.

-Divide with compatible numbers: 

Pages 138-141 and WB 34.

George Washington Carver was born on January 5, 1864.  He discovered over 300 uses for the peanut!  Think of a brand-new product that is made from peanuts and write an advertisement describing your new product.

January’s birthstone is a red gem known as a garnet.  Imagine that a burglar has stolen the world’s largest garnet from a national museum.  Write a Wanted poster to help catch this cunning criminal!

-Write rough drafts of an expository essay, a narrative essay, and a descriptive essay for the topic of A Different Kind of Hero.

-Practice manuscript and cursive handwriting.

-Participate in the Book It Program.

-Solve problems from the Spiral Review and Test Prep transparency and the Problem of the Day.

-Demonstrate knowledge of dividing with compatible numbers on Mastery Test 1.

(Second mastery test on Friday, if necessary.)

-Write the first ten multiples of 1-25.

-Work on Accelerated Math.

-Copy the chart on page S6, and write a paragraph explaining the chart.

-Keep looking for an experiment from a NASA site to perform and write a research paper that contains the process skills of the scientific method.  At this time you will only do the experiment (not a demonstration) and write the research paper.  No display project yet.

-Report cards go home.

-Write in the Daily Writing Composition book:  Looking Back

Today marks the end of the first week of the new year.  Look back on the past seven days and write a paragraph describing one thing that you’d do differently, and another thing that you’d do just the same.

-Write a final copy draft of one of the essays for “A Different Kind of Hero.”

-Share your writings with the class.

-Practice manuscript and cursive handwriting.

-Participate in the Book It Program.
