What I Saw, What I Heard, and What I Learned

On Nov. 14, 2001, our school (P.C.I.S) went to see the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.  The name of the concert was Pictures for Your Ears.  They played many songs for us.  Some of them were: The Twitering Machine, The Clock, and Mr. Smith's Piece.  They were very funny.

What I Saw:

I saw many people in the orchestra.  There were also a lot of different instruments.  I saw some pictures to describe what the orchestra was fixing to play, too.  Also, I saw many different looking instruments.  Let's just say I saw a lot of things.

What I Heard:

I heard many different sounds.  I also, heard an instrument I've never heard before.  It sounded like little birds making music.  I heard loud, sad, happy, and soft sounds.  I heard lots of different sounds at the orchestra.

What I Learned:

I learned a lot of different things.  One thing I learned was that when a composer writes music for an orchestra, he/she calls it a piece.  The reason he/she calls it a piece is because it doesn't have any words.  I also learned that many instruments can make many different sounds.  Also, I learned that there are many instruments in an orchestra.  Finally, I learned that not all the instruments play in a piece.

That is: What I Saw, What I Heard, and What I Learned at the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
