How You Can Help Our Creeks and Rivers

*You can go to Auburn University in Auburn, AL in the fisheries building and become water certified.

What Do You Have To Do To Get Water Certified

a) You will take a two-hour class about water testing.

b) Then you will have a practice session testing water at a local water body.

c) If you do the test correctly, you will become "water certified" and will be issued a water certification card.

d) You can now test water at a site of your choosing!! We will provide the testing kit.

Other Things You Can Do To Help

A) In the House

1. Call the Phenix City Water Treatment Plant to find out how to dispose of paint, household chemicals, and other toxic matter.

B) In the Yard

1. Use cat litter to absorb detergent/soap and soapywater when washing your car.

2. Clean oil off of driveway after changing you motor oil.

C) In public areas

1. You can monitor construction sites and report improperly-installed siltscreens to the city planner's office.
