Dear Diary,
Hi, it’s me, Senon Carter. You will not guess what day it is today. Here is a clue. It has been exactly 5 years starting today that I got you. Well, if you don’t know, I‘ll tell you. Today is my birthday! I am so happy! I want to tell you every thing that happened today. Let’s see. I guess I’ll start from exactly three days ago because I want to get as much as I can in. I’ll start on that morning, when I first woke up.
“Oh man. I’m going to be late for school! Stupid alarm clock! You can’t trust it as far as you can throw it!” I was late for school again. As usual. I go to school at Phenix City Intermediate Galaxy Star Space School. It’s a fun school, but it’s hard! We learn different languages. We learn how to use our jet packs. We have to take a test every two hours, except for when we are at P.E. I also stay after school for Drama practice. Now that’s cool! We learn how to act, use high-tected inventions, sing and use our creative imaginations and expand our minds to grater things. At least that’s what Mrs. Dempsey, Mrs. Farmer, and Mrs. Brewer says.
The next morning, I got up and looked at the calendar.” Two days to go and I’m going to be a pre-teen”. My birthday is on Thursday, so I get to have a party at school. How stellar is that! This is going to be the best birthday ever! I went to the pool late that afternoon after school with my friends Don and Kristi. They have commonplace names, but my name (along with my sisters and my brother) is one of a kind. “What a wonderful, spectacular, day it is! I love going swimming!” I know how to swim very well, but I’m trying to get better. The water was really cold, but it warmed up once I got used to it. I went home and saw my mom in the kitchen and she didn’t look too happy.
“The teacher said that you have been goofing off and that you are not doing to well on your class work and homework. What’s the matter with you.” My mom is always worried about me. “I’ve been thinking about the party mom. It’s very important to me.” “Well” my mom said, “If you don’t ship up, maybe you don’t need a party.” I went to my room after that because there is no use trying to argue with my mother. After I ate dinner, I went strait to sleep.
I only had one day to get my grades up and it wasn’t going to be easy. The next morning, I woke up and got ready for school in a hurry. I rushed out the door and I was off to school. I thought that if I got to school early and do the work over again, I could get my grades up again. Soon the day was over and my teacher said that my grades were pulled up and that I did well. My mom was proud of me and said “Next time, do your work on time.” My party was cool.
“So you see diary, every thing worked out in the end. I guess I learned that you no matter what, you have to keep your grades up or else your privileges will be taken away.”
