Perform an Experiment

The scientific method is a process that scientists use to test their ideas.  It consists of 7 steps.  The steps are:
1.  Question - State your problem as a question.
2.  Hypothesis - After reading the research, make an educated guess about what the answer is to the problem.
3.  Materials - Make a complete list of materials needed to investigate the problem.
4.  Procedure - Write the step by step instruction of how the experiment is conducted.
5.  Data - Organize the your gathered information into charts, graphs, and tables.
6.  Results - Explain the results of the data.
7.  Conclusion - Analyze the results and write a conclusion explaining whether or not the hypothesis was correct.

As you experiment, you need to keep a log or record of your observations and measurements.  It should include date and time of your entries, measurements and observations, and notes and comments.
