During the past twenty years organ
donation has transformed from being a futuristic possibility to a present-time
reality for thousands of people each year. However, despite the advances
in technology, lists of ailing patients needing transplants continue to get
longer. For some, the hope of getting a donor organ is almost zero.
Will further advances in technology alleviate the problem or make it
worse? What ethical issues surround organ donation in the 21st century.
