Channel Earth is a simulated science news program created and
implemented by sixth graders during the 2006-2007 school year. This
multidisciplinary project (reading, language, math, science, geography,
and technology) allows the student to read and research various Earth,
Space, and Environmental Science concepts and to think critically and
creatively to communicate their knowledge to P.C.I.S. students, our
system's elementary students, and our community through the news programs
and books. The news programs will be shown on a large plasma screen
or on the school's closed circuit television for fifth, sixth, and seventh
grade students, and the Channel Earth students will share their books at
our system's elementary schools. The news programs and other
products will be available on a website to keep the community informed of
school projects and events (i.e. NASA Nights).
