Kindergarten and New Elementary Student
Pre-Registration for the 2008-2009 school year
MAY 1, 2008

Kindergarten and 1st-5th grade students new to the district may pre-register
for next year at their neighborhood elementary school. Lakewood Magnet
School is accepting applications for kindergarten students. Applications will be
available at your neighborhood school during pre-registration only.




All K-8th Grade schools will hold regular registration
and re-identification for current students on

Students entering kindergarten through fifth grade will register at the
elementary school serving their attendance zone; science magnet
students will register at Lakewood Elementary School.

6th-7th grade students will register at Phenix City Intermediate School.

8th grade students will register at South Girard School.




Central High School (9th-12th Grade)

All students MUST be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian to register.


The following is needed to register your child in school:

  • A certified copy of the child's BIRTH CERTIFICATE must be on file. To obtain a replacement birth certificate, contact the Russell County Health Department at 297-0251. The Health Department is located at 1850 Crawford Road in Phenix City.

  • A copy of the child's SOCIAL SECURITY CARD must be on file. Should you need to apply or reapply for a social security card you may do so at the Social Security Administration located on Macon Road in Columbus or call (800) 772-1213 or locally (706) 649-7831. There is a two week waiting period.

  • An ALABAMA CERTIFICATE OF IMMUNIZATION (IMM-50) or exemption. All students attending school in Alabama school systems are required to have this on file. Additionally, documentation of a second dose of measles-containing vaccine for all children, kindergarten through twelfth grade is required. A booster dose of tetanus/diphtheria (Td) vaccine must be given 10 years after the preschool booster. Students in grades K-5 must also have proof of the varicella (chicken pox) vaccine. Immunizations can be obtained from the Russell County Health Department located at 1850 Crawford Road in Phenix City or from your family physician.

  • A CURRENT PROOF OF RESIDENCY is required for all students at the beginning of each school year. This proof may be a current copy of a utility bill, mortgage or rent receipt, lease agreement, or property tax statement and must include parent or guardians name and address.
