Brigadier General Dennis E. Rogers
Visits South Girard
Brigadier General Dennis Rogers visited
South Girard recently to impart an important message of always
striving for your goals. A native of Phenix City, the Brigadier
General stressed the importance of setting goals and then staying on
track and constantly working until you achieve those goals. He also
emphasized the role education plays in helping to achieve goals.
Brigadier General Rogers shared with students the roles education
and goal-setting played in his life.
Brigadier General Rogers began his career in the military during
high school by joining the Army ROTC program here in the Phenix City
school system. He shared with the students that during his 10th
grade year, he allowed himself to get off track. Due to mentoring
from his teachers, Rogers got back on track and was able to attend
college at the University of Southern Alabama. Rogers has served in
the Army since graduating college and took part in both Operation
Desert Thunder and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is currently
preparing to head back overseas for another tour in Iraq. Brigadier
General Rogers also shared with the students that when he retires
from the Army, he plans to return here to Phenix City and teach at
the elementary or middle school level.
