Read
Across America
Monday, March 3rd was Read Across America Day. In celebration of this, members of the South Girard Teen Advisory Board and Drama Club served as guest readers at Meadowlane. In the afternoon, the media center hosted a cake and juice birthday party for Dr. Seuss. Anyone having over 10 AR points received an invitation to this party.

Book Fair
The book fair was held the first week of December this year. The book fair was a wonderful success, with over $700 in books contributed to the SGS media center. Students participated in the One for Books program, in which Scholastic would donate a book to charity for every dollar raised by our students. The awesome students here at SGS raised $263.00 for One for Books! Great going SGS students!
Teen
Read Week
In October, SGS students celebrated Teen Read Week with a variety of activities. Monday, Teen Advisory Board students read book reviews over the intercom. Tuesday was "Get Caught Reading" Day, with students caught reading being entered into a prize drawing. Wednesday was Rock and Read Day, and students earning over 5 AR points had the opportunity to come and read in the media center. Thursday we announced our 1st nine weeks AR winners and held our drawing for Get Caught Reading. Friday was Scavenger Hunt day, with students racing all around the school to solve the reading clues and become the winner!
