Our School Westview School was constructed in 1962. It is a part of the Phenix City School System located in Phenix City, Alabama. The school's grades recently changed from
K-3 to K-5. Westview is accredited both by the state of Alabama (www.alsde.edu) and S.A.C.S. We are a Title 1 school which seeks success for all students. Although our school is small, we strive to offer a quality program. Our school has a welcoming family atmosphere.
Because of the addition of the 5th grade students and increased
enrollment, Westview now has a new building consisting of 8 new
classrooms and a new Media Center.
Westview's
teachers and staff are dedicated to educating all students. Toward
that end, Westview has a Building Based School Support Team
(BBSST) which addresses students who may be at risk of not
experiencing school success and may be in danger of school failure.
(The contact person for the 2007-2008 BBSST is Mrs. Ashley Johnson.)
We work hard
to help children gain basic skills in reading and math. We also stress
cultural arts and community awareness through plays, guest speakers,
career fairs, art activities and music appreciation.
Our Goals
Our goal at Westview is
to challenge our students to reach their full potential and to reward
them for behaviors and habits which lead to academic success.
Each day we repeat our
school pledge:
I BELIEVE I CAN BE A GOOD STUDENT. I BELIEVE I CAN ACHIEVE. I BELIEVE IF I WORK HARD I WILL SUCCEED. THEREFORE I WILL WORK HARD EACH DAY TO DO MY BEST. I CAN LEARN, I WILL LEARN.
