E-Learning Day on Thursday, September 26th, and Friday, September 27th Due to Hurricane Helene

Update 5:03 p.m. ET

Due to new information, we have moved Thursday, September 26, 2024, to an e-learning day. Friday, September 27th, will remain as an e-learning day. All schools and offices will be closed, but teachers and administrators will be available by email or Schoology.

Please ensure your child completes their hard-copy (K-2) or digital assignments for both days as instructed by their teachers. Engagement and participation in the e-learning activities are essential, and completing their assignments will determine their daily attendance.

The procedures for tomorrow and Friday are outlined in this document.

The safety of our students and employees will always be our top priority. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare for this inclement weather. Please stay safe and weather-aware over the next few days.

September 25, 2024

Following several meetings with Russell County’s Emergency Management Agency regarding Hurricane Helene, we have decided to have an early dismissal for tomorrow, Thursday, September 26, 2024, and an e-learning day on Friday, September 27, 2024.

The forecast predicts severe weather, including eight to ten inches of rain and 50-mile-an-hour winds, with potential power outages. This weather is expected to start Thursday afternoon and last until late Friday evening.

For the safety of our students and employees, we can not operate school buses in winds exceeding 35 miles per hour, and all afterschool activities scheduled for Thursday are canceled. Additionally, Friday night's football game has been canceled.
