Phenix City Schools Celebrated its Purple Star Schools and Contributors
Each school in PCS was awarded for its efforts in achieving the Purple Star School Designation
Phenix City, Ala.— On May 17, 2022, Phenix City Schools (PCS) celebrated every school’s Purple Star School designation. PCS hosted representatives from each school, PCS administration, PCS counselors and social workers. Ft. Benning School Liaison Officers, Marcus Dubose and Ethan Branch, and MCEC Coordinator, Likitca Ligon were also in attendance at a formal reception at noon at PCS Professional Development Center.
Superintendent Randy Wilkes and PCS Military Liaison, Veta Lewis, presented each school representative with a banner to place on site a certificate of recognition. Officers Dubose and Branch also received a certificate of recognition. PCS is proud of every educator, counselor and coordinator for their continued support and contributions to the school system and its military students.
Lewis said, “The Purple Star Status Distinction means so much to Phenix City Schools. The Purple Star Reception highlighted our journey to achieve Purple Star Status and celebrated the dedication and commitment of our school system and community in achieving this honorable feat.”
“This was a wonderful accomplishment that was made possible by many PCS employees and contributors. We have always valued and respected our military families, and this designation only furthers our goal to provide and implement assistance and programs to military students,” said Wilkes.
The Purple Star Award recognizes schools with a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. PCS is a proud supporter of the United States Military and continues to seek means to assist military families and further enhance its military relationships.
