• Greetings Sherwood Families,

It is my privilege to begin my fourth year as Principal of Sherwood Elementary School. I am honored to lead a school with such a rich tradition of excellence in education, alongside Mr. Averett. Together, we look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing with our amazing students, dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and engaged community members.

I have proudly dedicated the past thirty-two years to the field of education, serving in various capacities within the Phenix City School District. My experience spans teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten, working as a K-1 Reading Interventionist, serving as an Instructional Reading Coach, and holding leadership roles as Assistant Principal and Principal. I earned both my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Troy University.

As an instructional leader, I believe in fostering a shared vision, maintaining high expectations, and supporting every student to reach their fullest potential. My goal is to build an environment where families play an active role in the educational process, bridging school and community while driving student growth through data-informed instruction.

On a personal note, I have been married for twenty-four  years and have called Phenix City home for over thirty years. My husband, Kerry, also an educator, currently serves as Principal of Central High School. Together, we share a strong dedication to shaping and positively impacting the lives of young people. Though we do not have biological children, we are blessed to be the Godparents of our eight-year-old nephew, Kylan, who brings immense joy and keeps us delightfully busy on weekends.

I am committed to Sherwood Elementary School for the long term, and I am dedicated to building on the excellent work already being done for our students. I feel truly fortunate to lead such an extraordinary school community, and I look forward to working together to make this year a success.

    Sincerely,
