Central High School is one of the premier high schools in the state of Alabama offering an abundance of opportunities for students in a variety of areas. There are over sixty college semester hours available for students through dual enrollment and advanced placement classes, and students can graduate high school with an associate’s degree. The graduation rate of Central is 95% due to the hard work and dedication of students, teachers, parents and administration who truly believe that every student can be successful.
The Career Technical Education program at Central provides students the opportunity to begin career preparation in culinary arts, cosmetology, healthcare, masonry, teaching, carpentry, computer science, ROTC, air conditioning and heating repair, accounting, marketing, sports medicine, automotive repair, welding, media production, webpage design, and business management. The fine arts program at Central is dedicated to providing opportunities for students who plan on furthering their acting, dancing, musical, art or singing careers.
There are over 20 clubs and extra-curricular activities for students to take part in - ranging from the Scuba Club to National Honor Society - that consistently compete and win at the state and national level. The athletic programs at Central are consistently competing at the state championship level in all major sports averaging thirty athletic scholarships a year to further the student-athletes' academics.
Central High School wholeheartedly embraces our mission to prepare students to be college and/or career ready once they have completed high school.
