Mr. Calvin Scott, Director Of Bands

Mr. Calvin Scott, a native of Hawkinsville, Georgia, is an alumnus of Hawkinsville High School and Troy University, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. A former Head Drum Major of The Sound of the South Marching Band (2000-2004), Mr. Scott also performed with the university's Collegiate Singers, Jazz Bands, Gospel Choir, and in the Spring 2001 Hello, Dolly! production. He had the honor of performing as a guest soloist with the Troy State University Symphony Band under the late Robert W. Smith.

Mr. Scott and his family recently relocated to the Phenix City/Smiths Station area from Dothan, Alabama. Before joining the Phenix City School System, he taught band and chorus in Ozark and Troy City Schools. He also led the Troy University Bands Summer Drum Major & Leadership Camp from 2007-2019. Mr. Scott has toured with the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps and served as a guest clinician and adjudicator for various music events across Georgia and Alabama.

Mr. Scott is a member of several professional organizations, including Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Boota Roota, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He is also an active member of the Alabama Music Educators Association, the Alabama Bandmasters Association, and the Alabama Education Association.

In 2005, Mr. Scott married his college sweetheart, LaShay Parrish. They have three sons, Nick, Spencer, and Keelin, all of whom attend Phenix City Schools. Outside of band, the Scott family enjoys traveling and spending quality time together.
