Martells

"Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life”.

Proverbs 4:13, NIV

My name is Daidrea Martells, Special Education Teacher (K-2) for Phenix City Elementary School.  I was born and raised in Jamaica which is a beautiful island with gorgeous beaches.  I migrated to the United States and lived in Brooklyn, New York for many years.  Later, I moved to Columbus, Georgia where I attended Columbus State University and received my Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts.  After college, I worked as a Deputy Clerk for Juvenile Court.  I wanted to further my education, therefore, I went to Troy University in Phenix City, Alabama, where I received my Master’s in Counseling and Psychology.  I decided to challenge myself and go a step further in my education by receiving my Specialist Degree in School Counseling at Troy University.  I later made a career change to become a Special Education Teacher by enrolling in the Special Education Program at Columbus State University.  While attending college, I worked as a Substitute teacher for a few years experiencing different grade levels from elementary to high school.   I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Special Education and have been working in my field for over three years.
